Wikipedia: A blog (a blend of the term web log) is a type of website or part of a website. A website that contains an online personal journal with reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks provided by the writer.
By now, many of you may already know this information. At least it seems like you do because the blank stares and the “you’re a what?” are more few and far between these days. I enjoy getting a spark of recognition when I say “blogger” and more “ooh, yeah, yeah, blogging. I’ve heard of that.”
Progress is a beautiful thing.
I am a mommy blogger. Some people (including other writers and bloggers) hear the word “Mommy Blogger” and liken it to “I am a door-to-door-saleman.” I am not sure where that comes from, but not all mommy bloggers spend their days selling wares, reviewing products, and conducting giveaways. Not that that’s bad, it’s just not typically my gig.
I am a Mom who blogs, and takes it very seriously. I’d say “like second job” but seriously, it IS my job. Yes, people do get paid to blog for other people. I am living testament to that!
I still blog “for fun” but 6 years into blogging and that “fun” has turned more strategic. My “other blog” Franticmommy has always had a main goal of simply making my readers (mostly parents) LAUGH. That’s it, plain and simple. If someone finds my Franticmommy blog, reads my crazy-but-true posts, and thinks “thank GAWD it’s not just ME!”…mission accomplished. But I have also learned how to monetize (which is just a fancy word for make-my-blog-make-money-for-me) and that too has become a focus of what I do and what I blog about.
My goal on this blog is a little different.
There is still a decent dose of upbeat quirk and humor, but my focus on that blog is my community. I love where I live. I enjoy meeting new people in my daily travels. Mom Squad Marketing gives me a very nimble and flexible platform in which to shine the spotlight on local moms-in-business, amazing organizations, and services that will make my readers lives easier and more enjoyable.
I am proud to say MSM is very well read. We get about 200+ views and day and it’s growing. I think people like reading about other people, especially about people in their own community.
That’s where I could use some help. I need to know more about all of these “local moms-in-business” and “amazing organizations.” I want to do stories, profiles, and spotlights of them, but the reality is…I am just plump out of time.
SO, I need YOU to be my eyes and ears. If you know of a unique local business that deserves and little P.R or blog love, TELL ME. Or better yet, hone your own writing/blogging skills by interviewing them and creating a guest post for Mom Squad Marketing. You will absolutely get kudos and credit for the work in the form of a byline and a link back to your site.
I value my blog(s) because they give me an amazing platform to help people. I like the fact I can help people get their message “out there” with my little piece of virtual real estate known as a blog.
Shoot me an email at rebecca(at)franticmommy(dot)com if you would like guest post, or know of a business/person/organization who deserves the spotlight.
