Calling all dreamers! Join us for the Brainerd Public Library’s 2012 Summer Reading Program. Readers from birth through teen are celebrating our theme, Dream Big, READ! We will explore the night this summer with related stories, performers, crafts and more. This year we’ve created a fun new BINGO format for pre-readers and teens. Sign up NOW to read and earn fun prizes!

Curtis and Loretta*—Wednesday, July 11, 2:00pm The husband and wife duo’s extraordinary harmonies and proficiency on a parade of stringed instruments create an alluring frame for their poignant original songs, and carefully chosen traditional pieces from the British Isles, America, and beyond.

Family Book Club July 16th @ 2pm. This new book club is designed for 9-12 year olds to read with a parent or adult and then discuss together @ book club. July’s book is How to Eat Fried Worms by Thomas Rockwell a movie will follow the book club activities.

Pint Sized Polkas* Friday, July 27, 12pm Enjoy an entertaining and educational musical experience for children of all ages. One unbeatable children’s polka music package that’s fun for the whole family!

Register at the library for a chance to take a free bus tour to the:

Minnesota History Center for Minnesota’s Greatest Generation Exhibit* on August 18.

AND the

Minnesota Science Museum in Minneapolis to see the Real Pirates Exhibit* on August 25

The drawings will take place at the end of July. Two seats for the bus tour will be given to each winner. Please only one entry per person. Children must be 8 years old or older and be accompanied by an adult.

CLIMB Theatre*—Thursday, Aug. 9 at 11:30am

The Tortoise and the Hare -Adapted from Aesop’s Fables, Slow Sal had a big dream. She wanted to beat Speedy the Hare in a race. Follow her through her journey in this play is designed for ages 3-8—All are welcome

Brainerd Public Library Book Club-Wednesday July 11th @ 2:00pm. Join us to talk about the book Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot. Everyone is welcome to join in the discussion for this monthly event. The book club meets the second Wednesday of each month from 2:00 to 3:00pm.
