Sunday Spotlight: Kinship Partners Purses For Partners

There’s a buzz in the air. No, it’s not the springtime bees waking up; it’s the excitement of the upcoming Purses for Partners event!
The fifth annual Purses for Partners, a luncheon and purse auction to benefit Kinship Partners; will be April 21 in the Gull Lake Center at Grand View Lodge. Purse viewing and the silent auction will begin at 11:30 a.m. and lunch will be served at noon.
Purses for Partners began 5 years ago and grows in popularity every year.  This unique event welcomes donations of brand new purses, and some are even from celebrities. The purses are for women of all ages and there are even purses for younger girls as well.  The excitement builds as over 25 purses are auctioned off and each purse will contain a special extra surprise gift from an area business. These extra “surprise gifts” add to the air of fun and festivity.
To “sweeten the pot” even more, there are an additional 100 purses set aside for silent auctions as well. These purses also include an “extra surprise”, but the surprise isn’t revealed until the auction ends and the winner receives the purse.
When I asked Elise Mink, Kinship Marketing Coordinator, what she wanted people to know most about this event she shared that it is a relaxed, laid-back event. “It’s not high pressure or frantic like you think an auction might be. It’s light and fun.” Elise added she would also like to reinforce the fact that is this event benefits a great cause; the kids of Crow Wing County and surrounding areas.

Kinship Partners is a nonprofit serving families in Crow Wing and southern Cass counties. It provides positive role models for youth in local communities. Mentors are matched up with children ages 5 to 14 and they strive to spend quality time together. Kinship wants people to realize that anyone can be a mentor. It doesn’t take special skills, it just takes the willingness to listen and be a friend.

SO, if you want to support an amazing cause, AND score a hot new purse, be sure and buy your Purses for Partners ticket ASAP.  All tickets need to be purchased in advance since none will be available “at the door.” Tickets may be purchased by calling 454-8012 and are $30 for adults and $15 for girls 12 and under.

“We have women coming from as far away as the Cities,” Elise adds. “I know it’s a family event for many grandmothers, mothers, and daughters. “

  1. I’ve attended Purses for Parnters for 4 years. It is SO much fun and Elise is right. It’s laid back and fun. I’ve even had friendly competition with friends over some of the live auction purses. The easiest way to purchase tickets is probably online http://kinshippartners.org/purse.html When you purchase a table of 8, each member at the table receives a free raffle ticket good toward an awesome bag!! I’m really looking forward to this year’s event.
