Mom Squad News, Mom Squad Victories

18 Months, 1 Day, and 47 Seconds Ago, I Started A Little Blog

Not too long ago, I was doing some “housecleaning” on the Mom Squad blog and I came across our Very.First.Post.

WOW, where did time go? Our blog is getting all growd up.

It seemed like just yesterday that the concept of Lakes Area Mom Squad was born, but we will hit the big “two-year-mark” this June. Seriously cause for celebration if you ask me.

I read somewhere that, if your biz can make it to the 5 year mark, you’re golden.

Only three more years to go 🙂

Now I don’t want to get all misty-eyed and reminiscent on you..oh what the’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to.

I’m amongst yourselves.

It’s been a great ride and I can’t wait to see where the path unfolds next. Mom Squaders have come and gone, but we also still have our core of veterans who have been with us since Day One. We like that. We like our regulars (love you Sandy, Curt, Shannon, Mabel!) and we love new peeps too. It ensures that our Editions keep evolving and changing. We don’t want to be stale and and

Every Edition is different too. Some flow smoothly (like butta, baby) and some I swear will put me into an early grave. But all in all, it is just so freakin Worth.It.

Here’s an excerpt from our very firstest post..and it goes a little sumthin like dis:

Cuz This Is How We Roll… (October, 2009)

Welcome to our blog! For those of you that are unfamiliar with the world of blogging, hang on to your bloomers because it is an exceptionally cool and fun world to be a part of. Ooooohhhh…the kick-butt things we have planned for our little blog!!!! 🙂

First, a bit about LAMS. Lakes Area Mom Squad is a “Marketing Project” that taps into Mom-owned or Mom friendly businesses, brings them together, and creates a network of like-minded Momprenuers. Together, we pool our talents, resources, marketing dollars, and desire to grow our businesses through the distribution of free-to-the-public coupon packs. Interested? Rock on.

And the cherry on the ice cream cake would be, we will be doing this on a strictly local level. We want to shine a big ‘ol spotlight on businesses of all sizes and encourage local residents and visitors to keep their dollars in our Brainerd Lakes community. We are big advocates of “Buy Local” and firmly believe in putting “your money where your house is”.  Reade to tap into the “Power of Mommy? Awesome. Me too.”

Cool beans, ‘eh? And behind every successful team are amazing team members. My BIGGEST kudos goes to the ever-fabulous Miss Shannon Janco. Her dedication and persistence has kept me going even when it would be easier to give up (which, I could never do since I am pretty sure she’d hurt me if I did). She taught me the best opportunities are sometimes disguised as roadblocks, and I am my own worst enemy.

I am sure 50 years from now Shannon and I will be sittin in the Old Folks Home, plotting our next project and harassing all the old codgers there. We will be in full bling, swearing like sailors (oh wait, that’s just me), and probably networking like our ship’s going down. Look out world. The Dynamic Duo is just gettin warmed up.
