Fruits and veggies are hard to get excited about when it’s 20 below, but try anyway. Did you know, half of everything you eat should be produce? That’s half of your breakfast, half of your lunch, and half of your dinner. Oh! And don’t forget, half of your snacks!
Mix it up too with a rainbow of color. “Go green” with broccoli, kale, peas, leafy greens, and honey dew melon. You’ll be seeing “red” with tomatoes, watermelon, pink grapefuit, cherries, and strawberries. Orange is well represented with carrots, sweet potatoes (or as my 5 y.o says “woot vegetables!”), apricots, cantaloupe, and papaya. And lastly, blue/purple can be had with blueberries, blackberries, purple grapes, prunes, raisins, plums, and eggplant.
Fresh is best, then frozen, then canned. Consider it “the color of health”. Sooooooo worth it.
