I read a great article the other day from Sandy Dempsey at The Dreaming Cafe. If you’ve not read Sandy’s newsletter, please do. She is a wealth of knowledge and motivation for self-bossers or anyone in business.

Her article called Starting a New Profit Center for Free has tons of great resources that anyone in business would find very useful. Here’s a few:

Skype – talk to anyone, anywhere (and see, if you both have video) for free or for just a few dollars per month.

Google Documents – Free word documents, spreadsheets, presentations and other cool tools to record and organize your ideas, make notes, write articles, organize your research, develop proposals, create P&L spreadsheets, etc. And, the coolest feature is that you can share any thing you create with anyone so that you have access to the same information and not have to worry about PC/Mac compatibility issues or software compatibility issues. Plus, all of your work is available from wherever you are as long as you have a browser and Internet access.

Twitter, Facebook, Linked In, Plancast, MeetUp – All of these social media tools can be used for communicating, connecting, marketing and sharing your ideas,as well as your products and services. They are a great way to meet people, build a community and offer and receive support.

Eventbrite – Used to promote and manage sales for events online and off. There are no fee’s until someone registers and pays for the event. Fee’s can be paid by you and included in the cost of the event or added on top of the event fee and paid for my the attendee.

PayPal – Easy to set-up and free. Allows you to easily accept payment for your products and services.
I would like to add these:

Your Local Library: Yes, I know that’s a big DUH…but if you are growing a business and need to read up on information, save yourself some dough and check the local library first.

Smart Friends: Another “duh” but, I have strengths in certain areas. I have friends that don’t have those strengths and could use them. ON the flip side, those same Smart Friends have knowledge and skills that I don’t have, and need. Hence, The Trade Out. Never underestimate the power of BARTER.

Survey Monkey: Create and publish online surveys in minutes, and view results graphically and in real time. Survey Monkey provides free online questionnaire and survey. This is a great way to poll your customers and stay in touch with their needs.

Google Wonder Wheel: Google Wonder Wheel is a wheel (of wonder) which shows related search terms to the current searched query and thus enable you to explore relevant search terms which might be the ones you originally wanted to search for, or simply give you more options to gain more information.

Google Analytics: A kick butt way to track traffic on your site

Now it’s YOUR turn! Please share your suggestions.
