The Journey From Muffin Top to Skinny Jeans

SO HERE WE ARE AGAIN! Have you made any changes in the past few weeks? I am not seeing much as far as change on the scale..BUT.. I am proud to say I am STILL “chocolate free” and have been getting a handle on my carb consumption. Boo-yah!

Before I get-to-a-ramblin here, let me recap by cluing in any new readers as to what-the-heck The Journey From Muffin Top to Skinny Jeans is. This awesome blog meme was the brainchild of Short Mama and her blog A Family of Shorts. Pop over to her blog and give it a read. The jist of it is, TJFMTTSJ is weekly update for a bunch of moms (including me) on our weight loss journey. If you are trying to lose weight, whether its 10lbs or 100lbs, then this is the place to be.

This weeks topic is….. nothing! I have no topic or challenge. This week we are just going to give an update. How is your progress so far? Are you where you want to be right now? What changes do you foresee that you are going to need to make? Do you have any new goals or new challenges?

I guess I DO have something new. New resolve to get a handle on my crappy eating, horrific food choices, and sheer laziness in the exercise dept. Trust me, nothing is more eye-opening-and-heart-ripping than to have your family members tell you (for the first time ever), they are afraid for your health.

That is totally new turf for me. And boy, was it a kick in the arse.

I have to admit, I’ve been putzing along. Being good for a few days, being naughty for a few days. The scale has budged some, but I haven’t taken it too seriously. I’ve been “spotty” at best on my weight loss efforts.

Then, I had The Talk with my BFF. Which lead to a Bigger Talk with my spousal unit. The comment that hit home the most was “get your health in order. Don’t leave me alone to raise two kids.” ….

The result? One scared crapless Mama. But it’s all good. It was the kick in the pants I needed.

So what’s next? I needed back-up. I needed help. I needed a new direction. So I called upon all the gurus and support buddies I could muster. I obviously can’t do it alone. My first call was to Mom Squader Amy Kenow at Sunlife Wellness. Honestly, I am broke as hell, but I need to be serious, and Amy does things like pantry makeovers and supermarket tours, along with coaching and training.

I SO need that. I need to be accountable to someone.

Plus I am a little scared of her. I think that will help 😉 (she’s 6 feet tall and a Kick boxer. Like I am gonna giver HER any attitude!)

So my friends, Becky has decided to quit dickin around and  git ‘er done. Hopefully next week on my Muffin Top Journey I will have some really great things to share.

But for now, you’ll have to excuse me, I have a date with Mr Treadmill. 🙂

p.s Amy has a really great coupon for all of her services in the Edition 5 of our Mom Squad packs. Watch for her upcoming profile on Mom Squad Central as well.

P.S.S If you haven’t seen it yet, take a peek at the next post down from this one. The You Tube vid called The Meaning of Life. Love, love, LUV this video.

It is tough to change old habits, really tough. But you said it when you talked about being around for the kids. That’s big incentive!

Thanks Blue. It was tough to hear, but it was an excellent reality check!
